I met a guy named Jim because Peter Rocks recommended him to us as a silk screen printer. Turns out he runs an operation much bigger then apparel. He also happens to do PR/Marketing for some amazing artists (Incubus anyone?). Jim also handed me The Rigners’ album, “Headlocks & Highkicks”.
If you like bands like Turbonegro or the Hives, you should like these guys. My favorite track is definitely “Kamikaze Heart”.
The first thing I noticed was the amazing art direction. I love the detailed photography and the color combos. On my way home I popped in the album and gave it a spin… on first listen, I was OK with the music. I definitely love the genre (think late 70′s grime/punk), but some of the vocals sounded forced. I listened to it again 2 days later and I’ve been hooked ever since. I still feel like some of the vocals are a bit forced, but I find it harder to get my hands on shit that just has that raw energy. Plenty of shout along choruses and no grandiose guitars, just
straight to the point Rock N Roll. If you like bands like Turbonegro or the Hives, you should like these guys. My favorite track is definitely “Kamikaze Heart”.

BTW – the lead singer is hilarious. Remember those “White Gold” commercials? Well singer Joe Hursley is that dude!
